Yoga Classes
in Edinburgh
Yoga at Luma Pilates in Edinburgh's New Town is taught by instructors who bring real depth to their practice – not just technically, but personally. These are people who have lived with yoga for years, and that shows in the room. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, you'll find a class and a teacher that meets you where you are.
Find your way back to yourself. Luma Yoga
Classes draw on a range of traditions and styles – from the dynamic, breath-led flow of Vinyasa to the long, surrendered holds of Yin – so there's something here whether you're looking to build strength, release tension, or simply carve out an hour that's entirely your own. Your instructor will let you know the style and pace of each class when you book, so you always know what you're walking into.
What stays consistent across all our Yoga classes is the quality of attention. Alignment matters here. Breath matters. And so does the way a class feels from beginning to end. Not just a series of shapes to move through, but a genuine practice with intention behind it.
You don't need to be flexible to start, and you don't need any experience. You just need to show up.
Suitable for all levels. If you have any injuries or specific needs, let your instructor know before class and they'll help you find your way through.

Yoga FAQ
-
We offer a range of styles depending on the class and instructor. Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic, breath-led style where movement and breath are synchronised – building heat, strength and cardiovascular fitness. Yin Yoga involves long, passive holds of floor-based postures targeting the connective tissue – deeply restorative and meditative. We also offer specialist sessions including Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, and Yoga for Perimenopause and Menopause. Check the class description when booking to confirm the style.

This is the most common misconception about Yoga – and the answer is absolutely not. Flexibility is something Yoga develops over time; you don't need it to begin. Our instructors teach to the room and offer modifications throughout, so wherever your body is right now is exactly the right starting point.
-
Yin Yoga involves holding floor-based postures for several minutes at a time, allowing gravity and time to work into the deeper connective tissues of the body – fascia, ligaments and joint capsules – that more active styles don't reach. It is deeply restorative, meditative and particularly effective for releasing chronic tension and improving joint mobility. It's an excellent complement to more dynamic practices or to Reformer Pilates work.

Yes. Kat holds a specialist certification in Yoga for Perimenopause and Menopause and brings genuine expertise to this area. Yoga can be highly effective for managing many of the symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause – including sleep disruption, anxiety, joint pain and mood changes. Check the schedule for Kat's specialist sessions, or get in touch if you'd like guidance on which class is the best fit.
-
Prenatal Yoga can be wonderfully supportive during pregnancy – helping with discomfort, breath awareness, and preparation for labour. Kat holds a specialist Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga certification and offers dedicated sessions for pregnant clients. We always recommend checking with your midwife or GP before starting, and letting your instructor know your stage of pregnancy before class.

Our Yoga instructors are specialist teachers with years of dedicated training and practice – not fitness instructors who also teach yoga. The emphasis at Luma is on the quality of attention: alignment, breath, the integrity of individual postures and the overall arc of a class. If you've only experienced Yoga in a gym setting, a class at Luma is likely to feel noticeably different.
